Just got back from the 3-week Ruta Inti 2026 expedition, "Ecos del Himalaya." It was a hell of an experience, completely different from my normal trekking assignments. I was part of a 22-person Local Support Group managing, preparing food for, and guiding 200 young Spanish students (mostly 18-25 years old). We moved this massive group from Bhaktapur to Chitwan, through Lamjung (Simpani, Ghalepani, Bhujung), over to Pokhara, and up into the trails of Lower Mustang (Kagbeni, Muktinath, Lupra) before ending back in Bhaktapur.
Moving 200+ people through Nepal's monsoon roads was an absolute logistical beast. On the way back from Kagbeni, a huge landslide near the Tatopani region halted us completely. We were stuck for 7 hours, which is incredibly stressful when you have an entire expedition of 220 people stranded on the road. The crazy part? I was stuck at that exact same spot, for the same reason, just a few days earlier when I was rushing to rejoin the team—turning a brutal 16-hour transit into a 25-hour nightmare.
In the middle of all this, I had actually left the Ruta group to run a separate 10-day Lower Mustang assignment, only to rejoin them right back in Kagbeni. Basically, I’ve been bouncing between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Lower Mustang for a solid month. But we ended the expedition today successfully and with lots of compliments from the Ruta team. I definitely learned a lot, but after more than a month of continuous assignments, it’s time to enjoy some quiet, quality time with my family before heading out again.
Back in Lower Mustang—again! I’ll be based here for the next couple of weeks. By mid-August, this will mark my 4th trip to the region in the last 5 weeks and nearly 15 full days spent up here. Let’s see what this round brings, especially with the monsoon in full swing.
A hectic four days. Hiked from Kagbeni up to Jhong, been to the Tyu La pass, walked to Muktinath, and pushed up to the upper viewpoint at 4,360m. Over the last three days, I wrapped things up by hiking down through Lupra village all the way to Jomsom. And the grand prize after all that mileage? Getting right back onto another brutal 16-hour bus ride straight back to Kathmandu. 😅
Just got back from Tirri Lake, about a 2.5-hour hike from Kagbeni. I’ve been to Lower Mustang quite a few times, but I honestly had no idea this lake even existed. It’s a pretty chill, short hike with wide-open views of the surrounding desert hills. The lake itself is tiny, but it’s a beautiful spot to just sit under the shade of a tree and take in the view especially after that tiredsome 16-hour bus ride.

Decided to completely rewrite this page structure. I hate traditional social media, but I like the layout. Having a decentralized micro-timeline right here on my own domain feels way cleaner. No algorithms, no metrics—just a running log to look back on later.
Currently deep into re-organizing my editing folder and re-editing few older shots from Langtang Trek. The PhotoEssay from this region is long due so trying to fast forward it. Lets hope it will end up on the website soon.
Spent the last week sorting frames from the recent street walks. There is a huge difference between actively hunting for a shot and choosing a spot, slowing down, and letting characters walk directly into your frame.
