I was thrilled and honored to be a part of “The Day On The Streets Of (DOTSO) 2025″, a global 24-hour street photography initiative that took place in Kathmandu on March 31. This event brought together 17 passionate street photographers from across the world, including 7 of us from Nepal. I was especially proud that 6 of the Nepali participants, including myself, were members of our very own #photowalkersnp group.

My assigned area for the day included Sankata Temple, Tudhikhel, and the areas just outside Basantapur Durbar Square. I started my walk early at 6 a.m. and continued till 7 in the evening. It was a long but exciting day, full of discoveries and small moments that make street photography so rewarding.

The day began with a special companion—my 7-year-old son. He’s been showing a genuine interest in photography and was curious to join me on this adventure. Together, we explored the quiet early-morning streets, and he even pointed out a few interesting frames. Later in the day, I teamed up with fellow photographers Sukarya and Anuj, which brought a nice rhythm and camaraderie to the experience.

Photographing around Sankata Temple and the New Road gate proved to be more challenging than I expected. The foot traffic was much lower in that area, especially during the hours I was there. I had to look more closely and think creatively to find compelling stories in the stillness. Thankfully, Tudhikhel offered a contrast—buzzing with activity and energy. The park was alive with people walking, doing yoga, playing football, and engaging in their morning routines. It was a perfect canvas for capturing layers of movement and emotion.

Coincidentally, the event also fell on Eid ul-Fitr, which added another beautiful layer to the day. I was lucky to capture a few frames of people gathered in prayer—quiet, spiritual moments that added richness to the visual story I was telling.

Participating in DOTSO 2025 challenged me in the best ways. It made me slow down, observe more deeply, and push my creativity in new directions. I also got the chance to connect with an inspiring group of photographers from around the globe. It was a day of learning, sharing, and truly seeing the city I call home through a fresh lens.

All photos in this story were taken by me using an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III with a 7Artisans 25mm f/1.8 manual lens.
